Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has pledged to invest $2 billion (£1.3 billion) in investments to the U.K. economy, despite a U.S. House probe into the firm on the other side of the pond.
Huawei will plow $1 billion (£650m) investment in its growing U.K. base to boost its research and development, which will generate at least 700 Huawei jobs in the country, with a further $1 billion spent on the firm's supply chain over the next five years.
The telecoms giant, which already employs 800 people in the U.K., said it wants to nearly double its employee base by 2017 by investing in a number of "global centers of technical and financial excellence in the U.K."
It comes as Huawei jumps on the British 4G bandwagon, as the newly-named network EE announced this morning the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE as one of the devices launching with the next-generation LTE network.
